Karuna has been a devoted yoga teacher and psychotherapist for over 30 years.  She has degrees from Stanford University and UC Berkeley and has studied with many world-renowned teachers such as BKS Iyengar, Rodney Yee, Baba Hari Dass, and Judith Lasater.   

Karuna has taught in the US, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica and Hawaii.  She assists Rodney Yee in Workshops and retreats and teaches internationally about the interconnectedness of body, mind and spirit.
 
Karuna is certified by Yoga Alliance at the advanced level.  She offers yoga teacher training and advanced studies programs through her school, Heart Yoga Center.  Heart Yoga Center is approved by Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga School, so graduates of this school become Registered Yoga Teachers with Yoga Alliance.

This certification means that hours of study in her Costa Rica Teacher Training program meet the standards of teacher training with Yoga Alliance and can be applied toward registration as a certified yoga instructor.

Karuna’s present work on her doctorate in spirituality and mysticism at the University of Creation Spirituality with Andrew Harvey has deepened her vision of the profound links between the physical and spiritual aspects of yoga. She is presently co-authoring a book with Andrew Harvey entitled The Sacred Marriage of Yoga and Mysticism, and regularly teaches workshops with him across the US, Canada, and in Europe.
